Abby-Lee's life was never the same since birth when she was diagnosed with Chromesthesia, which is a type of synesthesia in which heard sounds automatically and involuntarily evoke an experience of color. With this disorder, Abby-Lee was forced to wear ear plugs her entire life and go from clinic to clinic trying to 'get fixed'. At the age of nine, her mother drove her to the middle of a town square and left her there and with her mother abandoning her, Abby-Lee was forced to live on her own. After leaving a very poor orphanage, Abby-Lee started living with Marcus, a guy who picked her off the streets and the twins, Elliot and Bambi. Abby-Lee has people walked into her life and love her, like Jenie and Eli, and people who hate her, like Eli's sister Effy. There one person that she is undecided about; the handsome jock, Jason, who has expressed a great interest in her. But things don't go has Abby-Lee hopes and after a terrible turn of events, she is sent back to the clinic for a year. When she comes home, Abby-Lee brings with her a new doctor, Steven, to monitor her recovery and two new friends, Tina and Mikey, her roommates at the clinic. Will things be different for Abby-Lee or will she make another down hill spiral; she doesn't care because all she knows is She. Is. Not. Crazy.
